The “Audit Formula” feature helps you to understand the logic and data referenced within a formula. By selecting a cell with a formula and using this feature, you can visually explore each steps of the formula, including any nested functions or references to other worksheets and cells. This will help you better understand how the formula works. This feature can be particularly helpful for debugging formulas, identifying errors, and optimizing calculations. By having a clear visual representation of the formula, you can easily track complex formulas and identify and resolve any issues or inefficiencies in your worksheets.
The “Change Sheets Visibility” feature allows you to easily manage the visibility settings of multiple worksheets within any open Microsoft Excel file. With this feature, you can quickly switch between three visibility settings:
Visible and Hidden are the normal settings you get within Microsoft Excel by right clicking on a worksheet tab. However, our add-in provides a third option – VeryHidden. This will hide the worksheet programmatically in a way which won’t display them in the regular Microsoft Excel right-click menu. This tool can be useful when working with large workbooks that contain many worksheets, as it allows you to selectively hide or unhide multiple worksheets very quickly. For example, you may want to set worksheets that contain sensitive data as VeryHidden or worksheets that are not currently being used as Hidden. The ability to quickly switch between visibility settings for multiple worksheets can save you time and effort, as you can apply the same visibility setting to multiple worksheets at once rather than having to adjust each worksheet’s settings individually.
Precedents
The “Show Precedents” feature is a tool within Microsoft Excel that helps users trace the relationship between cells in a worksheet. When a cell contains a formula that references other cells, those cells are called “precedents”. With this feature, you can select a cell or a range of cells and then see arrows pointing to all the cells that are used as inputs for that cell or range. This provides a visual representation of the formula and helps you understand the logic and dependencies behind it. It can be especially useful for complex formulas or when troubleshooting errors in a worksheet. In contrast with the regular Microsoft Excel functionality, our feature is applied to all cells within the selected range, making it easy to see how cells are related to each other.
Show Dependents
The “Show Dependents” feature in Microsoft Excel allows users to visualize and trace all cells that depend on a selected cell. When you select a cell or a range of cells, the feature shows arrows to all cells that use the selected cell or range as an input. The feature displays arrows pointing from the selected cell to all the dependent cells (called “dependents”). This enables you to track and identify all cells that are affected by changes made to the selected cell or range of cells. In contrast with the regular Microsoft Excel functionality, our feature allows you to track the dependents for multiple cells simultaneously, making it very useful for auditing and troubleshooting complex formulas in large spreadsheets with numerous interdependent cells.
Clear All Arrows
The “Clear All Arrows” feature allows you to quickly remove all arrows to dependent or precedent cells from your current selection. This can be useful when you want to clean up the visual clutter in your worksheet and simplify the view of your data. This feature applies to all cells within the selected range and helps you to quickly focus on the key relationships between cells.
Unhide All Named Ranges
The “Unhide All Named Ranges” feature allows you to view all named ranges in the current workbook by switching the visibility of all named ranges within Microsoft Excel’s Name Manager to “Visible”. This feature can be useful when working with a large workbook that contains numerous named ranges, allowing you to quickly navigate to and work with specific named ranges.
Delete All Named Ranges
On the other hand, the “Delete All Named Ranges” feature allows you to remove all named ranges within the workbook. This can be useful when you want to simplify your workbook or clean up unnecessary or broken named ranges. However, it is important to note that this action cannot be undone, so you should use caution when deleting named ranges.
The “Remove Warnings” feature allows you to hide warning messages within the current selection in the worksheet. These warning messages often appear when there are issues or inconsistencies with the formulas or data validation rules in the selected cells. By using this feature, you can hide these warning messages without having to fix the underlying issues in the worksheet. This can be useful when you need to hide certain warnings temporarily (e.g., when printing a spreadsheet or capturing a screenshot) or when working with a large dataset that may have multiple warning messages.
Our add-in allows you to remove all warnings with a single click or select the type of warnings you want to specifically hide:
The “Add Rounding” feature allows you to quickly add rounding to formulas and values within a selected range by wrapping all cells with a ROUND function. The tool also supports using the ROUNDUP and ROUNDDOWN functions. This feature can be useful when working with large data sets that require consistent rounding across multiple cells. By applying this feature, you can save time and ensure consistency in your calculations.
The “Select All” feature allows you to select all cells within the current worksheet that match a certain criterion. Once the criterion or set of criteria are selected, the feature will automatically highlight all cells that match the criteria, making it easier for you to perform certain operations or analyses on those cells.
You can pick from four criteria to select specific types of cells within the current worksheet:
These features can be useful in quickly identifying and manipulating specific types of cells within a large worksheet.
The “Numbers Coloring” feature allows you to apply standardized colors to cells within the selected range based on their content type. Cells containing formulas, numeric values, links to other worksheets, or external files can be colored differently for easy identification and analysis. This feature can help you quickly identify trends, patterns or outliers within your data, thus making it easier to draw insights and make informed decisions. It can also help you keep your worksheet formatting consistent across large projects which also makes it easier for other stakeholders to review your files. You can customize the colors used for each content type to suit your preferences or your organization’s brand guidelines by using the “Format Settings” tool.
The “Save Without Links” feature allows you to create a copy of the current file with all external links removed. This is particularly useful when you need to share a copy of the file with a third party but do not want to share the links or references to external sources, or when you want to maintain a snapshot version of the file without the risk of losing data due to external changes. When you use this feature, all external links in the copied file are converted to constants which means that the data that was originally retrieved from the external source is replaced with its current value. You also have the option to only export some of the worksheets to the copied file. Any links to worksheets not included in the copied file will also be converted to their current values. This ensures that the data remains the same regardless of changes in the external source. The resulting copy can be saved with a new name and location and can be shared or stored as needed.
The feature to switch the calculation mode to “Automatic” allows you to set the calculation mode for all formulas in the workbook to “Automatic.” This means that whenever there is a change in the data, all formulas will be recalculated automatically. This feature is particularly useful for large and complex workbooks where it might be challenging to keep track of formulas that need to be updated. By setting the calculation mode to Automatic, you can ensure that all formulas are always up to date and that you can rely on the accuracy of the calculations.
Switch the Calculation Mode to ManualThe option to switch the Calculation mode to “Manual” allows you to manually control when cell formulas are evaluated and updated within a workbook. When this feature is enabled, cell formulas are not evaluated automatically, and you must use the F9 key to recalculate formulas. This can be useful for workbooks that contain a large number of complex calculations that may slow down the performance of the workbook. By switching to Manual calculation mode, you can work more efficiently by evaluating and updating formulas only when necessary. However, you should remember to recalculate formulas when necessary to ensure that the results are up to date.
Calculate RangeThe “Calculate Range” feature allows you to only calculate the formulas within a selected range of cells. This is particularly useful for large spreadsheets where the calculation of all formulas in the workbook may take some time. Instead of calculating everything, you can select a specific range of cells and only calculate the formulas within that range. This can save time and improve the overall efficiency of working with the workbook.

The Magnimetrics Tools for Excel add-in consists of useful macros that help you considerably speed up your workflow. In Microsoft Excel, a macro is a set of recorded actions that can be executed repeatedly in order to fully automate a sequence of tasks. Macros allow you to streamline complex or repetitive tasks which saves time and reduces errors.
However, it’s important to note that when a macro is executed, it removes the Undo history. This means that any actions taken by executing the macro cannot be undone using the regular Undo command.
The reason for that is because the macro is being treated as a single action even if it involves multiple changes to the spreadsheet. As a result, if any errors or unintended consequences occur as a result of running the macro, it may be difficult or impossible to reverse them.
An Excel add-in is effectively a collection of predefined macros wrapped in an easier-to-use interface.
To avoid losing the Undo history, you can create a backup of your spreadsheet before running any add-in function or test it on a copy of the spreadsheet. Additionally, you can also do the following:
